In what is no doubt a disappointing revelation for any fans of The Office, the previous teaser for “The Farm” has turned out to be a commercial FileMaker, an Apple subsidiary.
I expressed my doubts in the past on whether or not this would turn out to be a spin-off of The Office.
Signs pointed it to be a promotion for Comedy Central, or as rumored, a three-part advertisement for Apple.
It seems the rumors were partially right, as FileMaker is in fact a subsidiary of Apple. This makes sense, as the micro-site was hosted on a FileMaker domain.
FileMaker develops a software and database program for businesses, aiming to be a whole lot simpler than larger and more complex databases.
Kate Flannery (Meredith), Leslie David Baker (Stanley), and Paul Lieberstein (Toby) all band together for the ad campaign, (while they don’t really come out and say it) possibly reprising their roles from The Office.
The three mini spots take you through the beet farm they run together, and showcase a series of apps all built on the FileMaker platform that make it easy for them to run their multi-million dollar business.
You can watch the clip above, or check it out on the Beet Lord website.
What do you think of FileMaker’s ad campaign? Are you disappointed we aren’t seeing a revival of The Office?
